Sublimation

Hanes presses sublimation on Cool DRI at 385°F for 20 to 25 seconds at 30 psi, with 400°F, 30 seconds and 60 psi as the do-not-exceed line. Size the pads exactly to the art, skip any extra paper or cushion, and pull the transfer paper the moment the press opens. Too little dwell leaves dye on the surface to wash out; too much drives it deep and washes the image out.

Screen printing

Polyester shrinks when heat first hits it, not in the wash the way cotton does, so watch garment surface temperature through the cure and reach for inks formulated to cure low. Dye migration can surface hours or days later; Hanes suggests bleed resistant inks and a 24 hour wait before shipping work on an unfamiliar garment and ink pairing.
