Sizing & fit reality

The T sizes (2T–5/6) assume a toddler build: roomier through the middle and shorter overall than youth XS. Staples like the Rabbit Skins 3321 fine jersey tee run this range in 50-plus colors, so matching a family or sibling set to an adult colorway is rarely a problem.

Parents buy a size up by habit. For made-to-order personalization that mostly works in your favor, but put the size chart in the listing anyway to cut remakes.

What sells

Family-matching sets (vacation shirts, reunions, "big sister" announcements), birthday-number tees, and daycare or preschool spiritwear. These are low-quantity, high-margin personalization jobs, built for DTF and HTV Heat-transfer vinyl. A colored vinyl film cut to shape and pressed onto a garment with a heat platen. Simple, sharp, and cost-effective for small runs; less suitable for fine photo detail. rather than screen setups, since most orders are one to five pieces.

CPSIA & decoration notes

Everything decorated in this size range is a children's product: CPSIA requires third-party testing with a Children's Product Certificate, permanent tracking information on the garment, and lead limits (100 ppm in the fabric, 90 ppm for a surface coating like a scrapeable ink). The phthalate ban legally covers toys and child-care articles rather than tees, but documented phthalate-free, CPSIA-compliant inks and transfer films are the industry default; use them and keep batch records. You make the finished product, so the compliance obligation is yours.

Print areas are small: full art on a 2T chest is in the range of a large adult sleeve print. Use small platens The flat board a garment is stretched over during printing.
