Unisex adult is the default run for a reason: straight-cut, men's-standard sizing from S to 3XL and beyond covers an entire order with one SKU. It is what most merch, event, and resale jobs spec unless someone asks for something else.

- It fits everyone roughly and no one precisely, so retail-oriented jobs pair it with a women's cut.

- Bella+Canvas 3001 (slimmer retail fit), Gildan 5000 (fuller classic tubular cut).
Sizing & fit reality
Unisex means sized on men's standards: a boxy body that drops straight from chest to hem, sleeves landing mid-bicep, and a larger armhole. It fits most people acceptably, which is exactly the point. One size run, without fit consultations or split orders.
Within unisex, the real variable is silhouette. Retail-fit blanks like the Bella+Canvas 3001 run slimmer and A tee cut from flat fabric panels and sewn with seams at the sides. This allows a more fitted, tapered silhouette compared to a tubular-knit tee, which has no side seams. , while classic tubular tees like the Gildan 5000 run fuller. Quote the same size in both and you'll get two different shirts.
What sells
Everything that needs to cover a crowd: company merch, event and festival tees, band runs, fundraiser shirts, resale lines. When the buyer can't collect individual fit preferences, unisex is the safe answer, and extended sizes (2XL–3XL and up) keep the largest bodies in the same style instead of a substitute.
Decoration notes
Unisex blanks give you the most forgiving print canvas: the widest chest, standard The flat board a garment is stretched over during printing. In screen printing it holds the shirt in place; in DTG it positions the shirt under the print head. sizes, and full-size art with no rescaling. They are also the cheapest per impression to run, since one screen setup and one art size serve the whole order.
The main trap is treating unisex as universal. The fit is approximate on every body, which is why retail-oriented jobs pair it with a women's cut.
